You can use this box in lots of different ways, as described, because the 'fuzz' control really is usable all the way through its range and there's plenty of volume available (unity for me is around 9'oclock on the dial). With a Tele, it gives a nice sparkling boost at very low fuzz levels. At very high fuzz levels, it begins to saturate. The bass control does exactly what you'd expect and can add some low-end to a small amp. I have a couple of other Earthquaker fuzzes (Tusk, Tone Reaper) and they all have great presence to their sound. Although it's a germanium-based fuzz, it's much more versatile and easy to use than a fuzz-face.
